Teacher Told Student She Loved Him: Cops

WILMINGTON, Ill. — A special education teacher’s aide in suburban Chicago is behind bars, accused of a months-long campaign of grooming and sexual exploitation targeting a 16-year-old student, a relationship that allegedly began with a seemingly innocent offer of support and spiraled into explicit images, secret payments, and a declaration of love.

Christina Sarraco, 28, was taken into custody on March 19, 2026, after a nearly five-month police investigation. Newly released body camera footage captures the tense and chaotic arrest, showing Sarraco pleading to use the bathroom, demanding to retrieve a hoodie, and ultimately being handcuffed after officers determined she was stalling.

The footage begins with detectives arriving at Sarraco’s residence in the pre-dawn darkness. A child answers the door, and Sarraco is informed she is being taken into custody on warrants for grooming and sexual exploitation of a minor.

The video shows Sarraco’s immediate resistance. She asks to put on a sweatshirt and expresses a need to use the bathroom, but officers deny her requests, citing safety and the inability to allow her to close a door behind her.

“I can’t pee with you. You cannot close the door. You’re going to watch me pee,” Sarraco says on the footage, her voice rising in distress as the officers attempt to move her out of the residence.

The arrest quickly turns tense. Officers struggle to get Sarraco to comply, and she becomes physically agitated, accused of refusing orders to submit to handcuffing. The situation escalates when she claims an officer pushed her.

“You shoved me into a wall,” Sarraco exclaims as she is escorted out, her pleas that she was merely seeking a jacket are overshadowed by officers’ commands.

“I gave you an opportunity to grab one,” an officer can be heard saying. “You didn’t need to push me like that,” she further argues, with the officer replying, “Let go and you were refusing the order.”

The incident is part of a case that investigators say began in May 2024. The alleged victim, a male sophomore student, was reportedly going through a difficult period. The victim later told investigators that Sarraco, his teacher’s aide, offered him her number during this time of crisis, saying, she “would do anything he needs” and “be there for him.”

That initial outreach quickly moved to the social media platform Snapchat, where the alleged grooming intensified. According to court documents, Sarraco began communicating with the boy using pet names, calling him “baby,” and expressing her feelings for him.

A startling audio message, allegedly sent by Sarraco and later surfaced, ends with her telling the teen, “I love you.” This and other messages were discovered by the boy’s father, who approached police in October 2025 after finding concerning content on his son’s phone.

The father’s discovery included more than just romantic words. Officials say a private, explicit photograph of Sarraco’s 𝓮𝔁𝓹𝓸𝓼𝓮𝓭 breasts was also found on the boy’s phone, an image that police believe was sent directly to the 16-year-old.

Financial records alleged to be presented by detectives identity, and evidence shows a pattern of alleged financial support from the teacher’s aide to the teen. Namely, “she purchased him food, an Xbox, and new tires for a car.”

The most disturbing allegation centers on alcohol. “This teacher’s aid bought a student alcohol on more than one occasion,” officers say, using the supplied evidence to support a charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Police also note that after the investigation went to the community, Sarraco attempted to control the situation. Evidence obtained from the boy’s phone shows Sarraco discouraging him from speaking out.

On October 6th, after she was pulled from, texts show Sarraco allegedly sent a message to the teen: “Why do you think I’m not there? I’m serious. I got pulled.

Someone did.”

Sarraco’s legal defense may be complicated by the fact she initially denied any contact with the student. Interviews from October 22, 2025, show her struggling to explain the evidence.

During the initial interview, a detective presses her on the accusations, showing her a clip from the morning. “Would there be any reason that he has your phone number?” the detective asks in the footage.

“No,” Sarraco replies. “What?”

“Would you have ever given him your phone number?” the detective continues.

“No,” Sarraco responds. “What about your Snapchat? No.”

When the detective informs her that the boy provided proof of their conversations, including the phone number and Snapchat, Sarraco maintains her innocence, insisting, “I don’t have anything.”

The arrest was the culmination of nearly a year of communication between Sarraco and the teen. The victim stated the relationship began in May 2024 and continued for over indefinite period.

The investigation revealed data from a search warrant, which allegedly showed 117 FaceTime calls between the two, 38 phone calls, and what police describe as a trove of other digital exchanges.

The final communication between them occurred on October 3, 2025. However, three days after the school was notified, the boy was allegedly attempting to get a final response from Sarraco, telling her and speaking cryptically.

The financial trail became a critical piece of evidence, showing that money had been sent to the student. This wasn’t a one-off allowance, which a lavish list of gifts, and police thought the relationship was built on manipulation.

The gravity of the arrest is amplified by the boy’s age. In Illinois, the age of consent is 17, and the victim was 16 years old at the time of the alleged messages and images. Sarraco’s role as a special education teacher’s aid, placing her in a position of authority over him, makes the charges of grooming.

Lawyer for exploitation that much more severe, for which she is now facing charges.

Sarraco’s legal case is scheduled to continue. She was held briefly, but a judge released her pending further hearings. Although terminated from the school, she did not return to her position.

She now faces a court battle and the public scrutiny of a case that began with a young man’s family trying to protect him from a trusted adult, a case laid bare in the body-cam video showing the moments she was stripped of that role.
