Missing Florida Man’s Body Found in Shallow Grave as Search Continues for Woman Accused of Murder

In a tragic turn of events, the remains of a Florida man who went missing in May have been discovered buried in a shallow grave, intensifying the search for a woman accused of his murder. Jason Christopher Coulthart, 43, was last seen on May 24, leaving his residence in Niceville, and authorities are now on the hunt for Isabelle Rose Johnson, 38, who is wanted in connection with his death.

According to a statement from the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, detectives uncovered evidence suggesting Coulthart’s body was interred at a location on Sunset Lane in Freeport. Following this lead, investigators obtained a search warrant and unearthed his remains on June 25, which were subsequently identified through DNA testing.

“This is not the news we hoped to deliver to our Niceville community,” expressed Niceville Police Chief Mark Hayse, emphasizing the department’s commitment to supporting Coulthart’s family during this difficult time.

Isabelle Johnson is currently evading law enforcement and is described as 5 feet 3 inches tall, weighing around 120 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. Authorities believe she may be using various aliases, including Harley and Jessica Elaine Bowman, and has connections to both Freeport and Georgia.

In a related development, three individuals have been charged as accessories in the case. Martin and Sandra Leaverton, both aged 63, face charges for allegedly assisting Johnson in avoiding capture. Additionally, 31-year-old Bobbie Wagstaff was previously arrested on similar charges, although it remains unclear if she has entered a plea or secured legal representation.

Walton County Sheriff Michael Adkinson stated, “The next step in this investigation is to hold every single person involved in Jason’s death accountable,” underscoring the determination to pursue justice for Coulthart.

While the cause of death has not been disclosed, the investigation continues to unfold, with authorities urging anyone who may have seen Johnson to refrain from approaching her and to contact law enforcement immediately. As the search intensifies, one question lingers: what led to this tragic outcome, and what will happen next in this unfolding story?
