Josh Duggar Moved to Ohio Prison, Marking His Third Transfer in a Year

In a significant development, Josh Duggar has been relocated to a new prison facility, marking his third transfer within a year as he serves a 12-year sentence for possessing child sexual 𝓪𝓫𝓾𝓼𝓮 material. The former star of “19 Kids and Counting” has been moved from FTC Oklahoma City to FCI Elkton in Lisbon, Ohio, according to inmate records from the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

 

A representative from the Bureau confirmed that Duggar, now 38, arrived at the Elkton facility on July 8. FCI Elkton is described as a low-security federal correctional institution, housing over 2,000 inmates along with a low-security satellite prison nearby.

 

Duggar’s legal team has not responded to requests for comment from media outlets. Prior to his time in Oklahoma City, he spent four years at FCI Seagoville, located just outside Dallas. In May, he was transferred to a Federal Medical Center in Fort Worth, although the reasons for that move remain unclear.

 

This latest relocation places Duggar more than 850 miles away from his family, including his wife, Anna Duggar, who resides in northern Arkansas. The timing of this transfer is particularly notable, coming just a month after a federal judge rejected his appeal to overturn his 2021 conviction.

Duggar was sentenced to over 12 years in prison for receiving and possessing materials depicting minors in sexually explicit situations. He previously argued that his constitutional rights were violated during his trial, citing complex legal issues and errors in the admission of forensic evidence. However, U.S. District Judge Timothy L. Brooks dismissed his appeal, stating that it was filed too late.

 

As a father of seven, Duggar has claimed to focus on personal growth, education, and maintaining family ties while incarcerated. His initial appeal was filed in October 2023 and was quickly denied, leading him to escalate the matter to the Supreme Court, which also declined to hear the case.

 

Duggar’s legal troubles have been compounded by recent allegations against his brother, Joseph Duggar, who has reportedly faced accusations of molesting a young girl. Currently, Josh Duggar is expected to remain behind bars until his scheduled release in February 2033.
