Timothy DuBois, 42, approached the 21-year-old victim while she was waiting in her car for her order. Armed with a knife and wearing a mask, he forced her to drive him to Troy, Illinois, where the assault occurred. Afterward, he made her return to the same area, ultimately fleeing the scene in a Wendyβs parking lot, reportedly covering her head with a coat as he escaped.
During the terrifying ordeal, DuBois allegedly disabled the victimβs phone to prevent tracking. However, prosecutors noted that her Apple Watch remained active, providing crucial data that would later assist law enforcement in locating him. Investigators discovered a discarded condom at the attack site, which led them to DuBois through genetic genealogy technology four months later.
