In a 𝓈𝒽𝓸𝒸𝓀𝒾𝓃𝑔 turn of events, authorities stumbled upon a horrifying scene in Vinton County, Ohio, where they rescued 16 children living in deplorable conditions. This discovery was made on June 30 while officers were executing a warrant for an unrelated case involving one of the adults residing in the home.
The children, ranging in age from just one year old to 18, were found in dire circumstances, with some requiring immediate medical attention. Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson described the living conditions as “beyond comprehension,” likening the children’s plight to that of “feral animals.”
Four adults were taken into custody in connection with this case. They include 73-year-old Gary Siders Sr., 36-year-old Gary Siders Jr., 67-year-old Christina Siders, and 33-year-old Elizabeth Siders. Each faces 17 counts of child endangerment.
Reports indicate that the officers were initially unaware of the children’s presence when they arrived at the Siders’ residence to serve a warrant for Gary Siders Jr., who is accused of indecent exposure on multiple occasions in May and June. Court documents reveal that he allegedly 𝓮𝔁𝓹𝓸𝓼𝓮𝓭 himself outside the home on four separate dates.
Gary Siders Jr. is set to appear in court for a pretrial hearing regarding these charges on July 9. If convicted of the child endangerment charges, the adult suspects could potentially face a staggering 192 years in prison each.
