Florida man allegedly tried to run over woman with his horse at rodeo

In a bizarre turn of events at a Florida rodeo, a 45-year-old man has found himself in hot water after allegedly attempting to run over a woman with his horse. The incident, which unfolded on July 5 in Marion County, has left many scratching their heads and questioning the wild antics that can occur at such events.

According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the scene following reports of a disturbance. A woman, whose identity remains undisclosed, claimed that a man on horseback had tried to strike her down. The situation escalated quickly when law enforcement attempted to apprehend the suspect, identified as Antonio Castillo-Ortega, who was driving a pickup truck with a horse trailer attached.

In a dramatic twist, Castillo-Ortega reportedly attempted to evade capture, fleeing into nearby woods after realizing that an ambulance was blocking his escape route. He later jumped into another vehicle, where deputies eventually found him hiding in the backseat. During the initial encounter, Castillo-Ortega allegedly expressed his disdain for the situation, saying, “f— that,” before making his escape, reportedly out of fear of being jailed.

When questioned about the incident, Castillo-Ortega claimed that the woman had tried to spit on him and was too close for comfort while he was riding. He denied the allegations of trying to run her over, asserting that he was merely trying to intervene in a dispute between two women.

As a result of the incident, Castillo-Ortega was taken into custody and faces multiple charges, including domestic aggravated assault and resisting arrest without violence on two occasions. The sheriff’s office humorously remarked on his failed attempts to evade law enforcement, stating, “He’s the loser of the hide-and-seek game. He tried pretty hard, but he got caught.”

After posting bond, Castillo-Ortega has since been released from jail and is set to appear in court on August 11. What could possibly unfold next in this unusual case?
