Federal prosecutors have filed a third superseding indictment against rapper Lil Durk, introducing new charges and expanding the scope of the racketeering case against him. The indictment, which replaces previous legal filings, adds fresh allegations and a new framework for the government’s case.
The government’s latest filing introduces what it calls the “Banks Gang Enterprise,” alleging that Dirk Banks, known professionally as Lil Durk, and several codefendants operated as part of a criminal organization. Prosecutors claim this enterprise was involved in murders, attempted murders, robberies, and drug trafficking, structured as a coordinated network rather than a series of unrelated crimes.
According to the indictment, the group began around 2010 as a music collective but evolved into what authorities describe as a violent faction tied to the Black Disciples Street Gang. The government alleges that Lil Durk directed acts of violence and rewarded participants with money, jewelry, music opportunities, and elevated status within the organization.
A central event in the case is the November 2020 murder of King Vaughn, described as a close associate of Durk. Prosecutors allege that after Vaughn’s death, the group plotted revenge against Taequan Bowman, also known as Quando Rondo. The indictment details a series of alleged murder conspiracies targeting Quando Rondo, including a May 2021 attack in Georgia that he survived and an August 2022 shooting in Los Angeles that resulted in the death of Lil Pob.
The indictment also references a February 2019 shooting in Atlanta, where prosecutors claim Lil Durk was present and seen on video firing a weapon. Durk previously beat that case, but the new filing incorporates the incident as part of the broader racketeering pattern. Additional allegations include the use of stolen vehicles, known as “sliders,” for attacks, secret coded language, and text messages discussing payments for violence.
Drew Findling, Lil Durk’s attorney, responded to the indictment by calling it “lipstick on a pig” and described the government’s actions as a desperate attempt to prop up a weak case. Findling stated that Durk has demanded a trial at every step and argued that the new charges are a stalling tactic. The indictment includes six counts, ranging from murder in aid of racketeering to firearms charges, and seeks forfeiture of assets tied to the alleged crimes. The trial date remains pending.
